Classes - Rug Hooking

We welcome those who are experienced as well as those new to the craft of traditional rug hooking here at Chairmaker and Friends. The cost of the class is $5/session. This includes instruction/color planning as well as the facility charge.

We have Open Hook-ins with each individual working on their current patterns as well as occasional workshops to learn different rug hooking skills during our time together. Hook-ins are for both the advanced as well as those that are new to the craft. If you are new to hooking and would like to take a beginner class, please contact Katie Allman (see contact info below) in advance of the class so she can prepare a customized kit for you. Beginner kits and all the supplies one would need to complete your projects are available.

A variety of patterns are available on linen, warp, monks, and burlap backing. If you desire a specific pattern or wool colors for the classes please contact Katie prior to the date so she can come prepared for you.

A note about the teacher…
Katie Allman of Kidl’-de’Divey Woolens has been hooking for the past 16 years. She is skilled in both fine and primitive techniques. Dianne Kelly, Gail Dufrense, Diane Stoffel, and Shirley Bloom are some of the teachers she has understudied. She has been an L&D nurse for 23 years and currently resides in Ashland, OH with her husband and two children. She is completing her Rug Hooking Certification with the Southern McGown Teacher’s in Ripley, WV. Her favorite cut is an 8-9. She is addicted to dying wool and teaches a dye class here at the shop periodically. We welcome you to join us for our bimonthly Hook-ins.
